Pay It Northward: Now A Signature Component of DavisConnects

Last May, when the Class of 2020 faced one of the most challenging job markets in decades, the Colby community rallied to help ensure that graduating during a global pandemic and major economic downturn would not lead to long-term negative impacts on the College’s deserving seniors. DavisConnects launched Pay It Northward, a campaign designed to assist every senior with postgraduate success and thus, called upon Colby’s community of alumni, families, and friends to help.
The response was incredible, resulting in more than 700 opportunities. The experience last year convinced the College that Pay It Northward is a model worth continuing, pandemic or not. Moving forward, it will be a signature component of DavisConnects, which is built on a commitment to providing the very best opportunities to position Colby students for lifelong success—regardless of their personal connections, networks, or finances.
The College is asking the entire Colby community to once again mobilize and share full-time jobs and postgraduate internships. The team at DavisConnects has been aggressively preparing seniors to take full advantage of the opportunities coming their way through workshops in resume development, networking, and mock interviewing, and a series of employer recruiting events across industries. Students have been strengthening their career readiness skills, gaining deep insight into different career paths, and building their professional networks.
The College’s goal is to help every senior acquire a relevant job or postgraduate experience that launches them into multiple fields of human endeavor that have long been the hallmark of Colby alumni and parents. The incredible Colby community of 30,000 is well positioned to pay it forward for these students.
